Families and Friends only (Closed meeting): A meeting that is available for Al‑Anon members and prospective members only. Anyone who has been affected by someone else’s drinking is welcome.
Families, Friends and Observers welcome (Open meeting): A meeting that welcomes observers seeking information about Al‑Anon such as professionals, medical personnel, students, reporters, etc., as well as newcomers and members of Al‑Anon.
Alateen meetings are for children/teenagers ONLY! Each Alateen Group has a few Alateen Group Sponsors referred to as “AMIAS” (Al-Anon Members In Alateen Service). These are adult members of Al‑Anon who have been through a certification process. They provide safety and guidance in the meeting and help the Alateens keep the meeting focused on the Al-Anon/Alateen program of recovery.

No one else showed up for the meeting… what do I do?
The Al-Anon Family Groups members try to make sure that there is always somebody there whether it be a face to face or an electronic meeting. Sometimes that doesn’t happen though, after all, no one is perfect. Meetings very in attendance size and attendance at a specific meeting can drop or “life” can happen that prevents people from attending that day. Some of our meeting spaces can also have other events occurring which may cause a group to be temporary displaced requiring a last minute cancellation. While our groups try very hard to always inform the District of any changes so they can be posted at the very least 24 hours in advance on this website, in the event you arrive at a meeting and no one else is there, we are very sorry for this and we hope you will let us know about it!
Call 843-785-9630 to leave a message with the day, time, meeting location and a contact number so we can reach out to you with other meeting details or email us at webmaster@al-anon-lowcountry.org. We will also contact the group in question to make sure they aren’t in need of assistance and that nothing has changed with their meeting time and location.
