Early Risers AFG was started by four members of Al-Anon who met through E-Lowcountry AFG during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Dave B (South Carolina), John K. (Alabama), Mark K (Nebraska) saw there was an opening in the schedule for an early morning meeting and approached Alex B (South Carolina), E-Lowcountry AFG founder and Web Coordinator for Al-Anon Beaufort County who provided the technical support to E-Lowcountry AFG. He joined on as a supplemental founding member (to handle the tech infrastructure and the paperwork – Alex’s words). Early Risers AFG was the first of several spin off groups created by members of E-Lowcountry AFG.
The first meeting for Early Risers AFG was December 3, 2020. A month later on January 7, 2021, given a strong first month, Alex B filed the registration paperwork for the meeting with WSO. Five months later on May 4, 2021 Early Risers AFG expanded their group’s presence to not just Thursdays, but Tuesdays also. With the new Tuesday meeting, they added a Step of the Month meeting, a Tradition of the Month meeting and a Daily Reading meeting.
Early Risers AFG is a member of the Global Electronic Area (GEA) and utilizes Al-Anon Beaufort County (ABC) as a digital landlord.
