E-Lowcountry AFG was founded on April 1, 2020 by Al-Anon Beaufort County (ABC), the Intergroup that serves part of the Lowcountry of South Carolina, specifically Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island and Okatie.
The meeting was originally a discussion board meeting, but was closed down June 21, 2020 in lieu of two permanent Zoom meetings that would meet weekly. Due to the fact that Beaufort County is a popular tourist destination, we are used to have lots of visitors at our meetings. By registering with World Service, our “virtual tourists” came flooding into our “Electronic” Lowcountry. On July 8, 2020 the Wedensday 7:00pm meeting had its first “worldwide” meeting and four days later on July 12, 2020 the same happened for the Sunday 12:15pm meeting.
As a result of the growth and unity of our group, we have seen several other groups and meetings started by members of E-Lowcountry AFG. Like so many other electronic meetings, this is Tradition 1 in action!
